Is it possible to build a Radioactive Rockets?

I Was wondering is it possible to build a radioactive rocket that blasts powerful wave currents that are strong enough to lift someone up vertically?

The US and the USSR (now Russia) experimented with nuclear rockets in the 1960s.  The US built and tested NERVA and one other nuclear rocket at the Nevada Test Site in the mid-1960s.   They did function as proper rockets and had a very high specific impulse so they could function as launch vehicles if scaled-up, but the radiation they produced was unacceptable.  It was determined that they were too dangerous to fly -- by both the Russians and NASA.
