Is it possible to buy a UK prepaid phone for virgin mobile and use it in the USA?

Is there anyway to buy a prepaid virgin mobile phone from the UK and use it here in the US? & is it possible to buy any unlocked gsm/cdma phone to use with virgin mobile prepaid in the US?

If you are buying Prepaid card of any mobile company and going to use it in other, then you will be on International roaming.

I think you need a tri-band phone though, not a dual band.
