for under $3000? I'm heading off to college soon and was thinking of getting either a used Toyota Corolla or Honda civic as I've heard they are the most reliable. Is it possible to find a good car this cheap? If not, then at what price range should I start looking?

  1. it is possible - get a honda because they are the most reliable. i just saw one on the auto trader - check for your local listings - but i saw a pretty one a 2000 black 2dr civic with 84,000 mi. for $1,900.00 - thats a good deal  (in arizona) - check out the autotrader but whatever you do, make sure you're not getting ripped off. always, check the miles - don't get anything with more than 150,000 miles unless its been serviced.

  2. You are looking for a car that cost $3000. That means you make at least $3000 a week. Because only stupid people buy cars that cost more than they make in a week. If you can afford that much, you must make at least $150,000/year, and you probably don't need to go to college.

  3. yes, it is very possible. The first thing you should do is pay attention to what is popular. Check what kind of cars you see on the road the most. That's a sign it is dependable. More importantly you have to do your own research. Dependability is also a matter if you keep the car tuned. When checking out a used car from a private owner, pay attention to how is lawn and house are kept as this will reflect how he maintained the car. Be sure to use common sense don't buy something really low on price without your mechanic checking it out. more often than not, the seller is trying to hide something. Good luck with your search, it won't be easy.

  4. Yes. My first car cost $1000 cash a little over 2 years ago and it's been great; It'll should give me another 10 years or so at least. It's a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, same as a Buick Century. I bought it with only 91,000 miles on it. Hondas and Toyotas are good, but they're always overpriced used because people make them out to be infallible. The truth is that how well the car was treated will always matter much more than what brand it is. I bought my car from the original owner who was honest and always kept up-to-date maintenance on it. Never buy a used car from a dealer if you can help it; you'll always get the best deal from a private owner. I've gotten over 31 mpg (V6) going 70 on the highway and my insurance is extremely low; it's a very economical car overall. You can definitely find a good one for $3000.

  5. it is my bro bought a use corvett for 50,000 and it runs good with his viper its possible cause toyota and honda r some strong cars

  6. I agree with Jack B 200%. GM vehicles are very good cars.Their reputation for low quality is undeserved. I will drive nothing but GMs and an occasional Ford, and they don't leave me stranded on the road.
