  3. yes you just have to ask the guys that make it like hp voodo or gateway to install xp on it and it would be cheaper too.

  4. Any laptop that comes with Vista Ultimate or Vista Business pre-installed can legally be "downgraded" to Windows XP, as this is permitted by the licence.

Other than that, it may still be possible to buy sealed laptops with XP pre-installed as "new old stock".

The only genuinely new laptops that come with XP pre-installed are subnotebooks like the Asus EEE PC series.

  5. Only on certain business model laptops.

  6. Yes, though probably only if you are willing to buy a laptop aimed at businesses (not such a bad thing since they tend to have anti-glare and pointing sticks available as well).

Officially Microsoft won't sell Windows XP but they do give those with Vista Business the right to upgrade from Vista to XP, the way it works is that the manufacturer will exercise that right on your behalf and give you a computer pre-installed with XP (Microsoft had to find someway to keep selling XP otherwise they'd lose a lot of customers to Linux earlier than they otherwise would).
