I'm travelling to Brasil and want to buy a SIMM card to put in my cell phone to use while there. Is this possible?

    are the major Brazil cell carriers.

    Costs about 20 reais for the card, around 10USD.

    Just make sure you buy the card from the area code you will stay longer, cause if you have a Rio card (21) but you are away from Rio you will pay to receive calls.

    If you are on the state that has the same area code as your card, you dont pay to receive.

    Also you can charge anywhere, you can buy top ups at every newstand, lotery house (very common in Brazil) or on authomatic machines all over.

    Depending on which state you are, the signals vary, for example, São Paulo, I find TIM better, Rio depends a lot...

    The prepaid simm card, it´s not ready in diferents states because the taxes.

    But, if you´ll use in only one city, it´s not problem.
