Is it possible to buy property on the moon?

I have heard there is a UN charter about property on the moon, since it seems like we might be there in my lifetime I am just wondering if it is possible to buy property.

While there are people more than willing to sell you such property, do you really think they have legal title to lunar property?  And what Earthbound courts could possibly adjudicate property disputes on Luna?  Who has jurisdiction?  And are you willing to pay the taxes, and surveying costs required for a legal transfer of property.

if people in Europe could get charters for land in the Americas their government did not own. they today you can buy land on the moon

the moon is, currently, international territory like the oceans, which is not owned by any one person, government, or organization. in the future, the UN might subsidise territories for scientific endevors, but not for public use.

There are any number of hacks ready to take your money and send you a deed to property on the moon.  No such deeds hold any legal validity.

Obvious answer:  No.  You cannot buy land on the moon because currently there is nobody living there who could sell you his land.

Possession is nine tenths of the law.  Do you want land on the moon?  It's all up for grabs.  Just go there.  Stake out your claim.  Settle it.  Live on it.  And it's yours as long as you stay.
