Is it possible to carve a ring out of gold? If so what would I need?

I want to make a gold ring, perhaps out of a cold coin? Is it possible to do that in a fairly simple way, such as by carving or using a little grinding tool of some sort? If so, what would I need?

  1. No you cant do it a simple way. You have to melt it and make into a rod type shape and then continuosly hammer it to get the ring shape .It s an art which you would have to learn.

    Another way is to put the molten gold into a mould.

    This too is professional way of doing it.

  2. Usually a gold ring would be molded, then some details would be carved. I'm not sure you could turn a coin into a ring because it would be uncomfortable to wear. Here is an example of how a ring is made:
