Is it possible to change the declared customs price in one parcel sent through DHL to Brazil?

I sent a present to a friend in Brazil, through DHL, and once it reached the country they charged about £300 (R$950) to my friend who didn't even know about the present.

When I declared the price, DHL people said, that was something to do with the insurance or whatever.

I was wondering if its possible to change the price, because the present (ipod touch) is used for about 10 months already, and it doesn't worth £300, but a NEW one is £199.

If someone can help me, i would appreciate. I have until tuesday 14/07/08 to pay, or they are going to destroy the parcel..

If you are speaking to DHL, then THEY can tell you if it's possible to change the price.

Have the parcel returned to you, rather than have it destroyed.
