I would put it inside of a lingerie bag (mesh bag with a zipper) and wash it.  I do it all the time!

Of course it is.  You can use the washing machine. But only to curtain stuffed animals.  Such as depending on it's fur type, some are very soft at first but after you wash it is would not be as soft as before.  But some would come out perfectly fine...  And if it's dirty some of them might not come off... and i would become a stain... but if it's white try using bleach, and if it's color try washing it several times!
