  1. If the Freeview box has an aerial/UHF output. Some of the newer boxes don't have UHF/RF out and only have a scart socket. Must be an old TV. It was European law that TVs made after 1991 had to have a scart socket.

  2. yes, using the normal aerial socket.

  3. You want an RF modulator, that converts scart socket output to RF.Catalogue No: VH89W from Maplin: £29.99.

Connect the box to TV and Freeview, then switch on. Select a free channel on the TV and tune it until you see the Freeview picture.

You may only get mono sound, but:

If your TV has 2 phono sockets (red and white) on the back (or under a flap at the front wherev the tuning controls tend to be), you could try connecting the RF modulator stereo audio output to those.

If your TV is twin speaker, these MAY be stereo, so you may get a stereo output. Many older pre-Nicam TV's (from 1985 onwards) did have stereo speakers, as Hi-Fi Stereo Video tapes are introduced.

Check the TV instruction manual which may be available on-line at the manufacturers www site.

  4. Yes via the aerial rf socket
