Is it possible to connect (yellow) composite into component (is a certain color compatible with the yellow)?

I want to connect my Ipod video to my new tv but it only has component video in the front. Is it possible to hook up yellow video to the component input?

The standard Composite cables transmit a diffrent signal to the component.

Composite has all the colours combined together, as one signals,

but the component has 3 diffrent signals to make the signal up, Y, B-Y, R-Y are the 3 signals.

if you plug the yellow (composite) cable into one on the plugs on the component it will display the signal, but it will have very very limited bad colour, and a very poor signal,

not unless your tv specifically says (Y) next to one of the component plugs.  the new mitsubishi tv's have component on the front that will also accept composite
