This gate is without a fence, but could incorporate an arbor and I would be willing to combine it with purchased lumber.

  1. Of course! Just make sure it is not a kind of wood that will roth. Yellow and red cedar are the best. Red pines are good too (a bit better than other type of pine) but are better dryed out before use. Next time you go to the lumber yard ask them about other trees you can use if you don't have access to these of if you simply don't like 'em. Have fun!

  2. Yes if you combine it with lumber, it will support the structure. Very good idea, hope it turns out great!

  3. of course it is.  branches are made out of wood and so are fences.  As long as you can make a sturdy fence by securing the branches  it should work and be beautiful and rustic

  4. yep. just criss cross em

  5. Of course. What I did was go to the local garden center and made a sketch of a gate and arbor that I wished to construct. I  just followed the plan and it came out perfect. I just used poles from local copse. Permission was obtained of course. You can buy this timber I think they call it rustic.
