Question:

Is it possible to convert my car to accept another type of fuel?

I have a Muscle car that I dont really want to part with if the gas prices go to high.

She will need a new engine soon because the original is wearing out so I was thinking if it was possible to convert it to run on something else. Hydrogen is preffered but Diesel is also acceptable.

I heard stories that Arnold Schwarzenegger converted all his Hummers to run on Bio Diesel and Hydrogen.

Any information on how this can be done or what needs to be done to do this?

  1. you can, but it will be pretty expensive.  in Utah they are converting some Honda Civics to run on Natural Gas... get's about .80 odd cents to the gallon.  Not to bad IMHO.  do your research.  your muscle car will lose out on some HP i'm sure.

  2. I don't think at the present time that there is any alternatives that rally makes a lot of sense, economically. A conversion to run E85 might be OK provided this fuel is available in your area. Natural gas or hydrogen present you with fill up concerns and propane, although higher octane and much cleaner, is no bargain when powering an internal combustion engine.

  3. Sure Nitro Methane, it is a little on the pricey side but you will enjoy it. If it is set well you will need about 8-10 gallon per        quarter mile.

  4. Holley makes a conversion kit for the 450 series carbs to run E85 but you need to adjust your timing too the good part this will actually give you more power and the gas is cheaper E85 is about 105 octane yes you do use more fuel but trust me you will like it the conversion kit from Holley is about 200 and you can buy carbs already for 600 i hope you know you cant put biodiesel in your car with out putting a diesal engine in it
