Is it possible to cook baklavas at home with a casual oven ( not professional oven) ? What's the recipe?

  2. well yes my mom did it, though its not good as professional baklava its still good

    I dont have a personal recipe so all I can offer is this online recipe

    as arpsy said the dough is your biggest challenge in turkey it can be sold ready but in foreign countries you cant usually buy prepared dough so thats your biggest challenge, thin leaves of dough

  4. It's actually not that hard to make.  You just need a package of filo dough, walnuts, a blender, honey, butter, pistachio, sugar, and lemon juice.

    First, take a cup of sugar and water into a saucepan and stir while adding in about 1 tbsp of lemon juice.  This will be your sauce.  You can also add about a tbsp of honey to it if you want it to be extra sweet.

    Next, take a sheet of filo dough and lay it on a baking sheet.  Brush the one side w/ melted butter.

    Then, put about 1/2 cup of pistachios, 1 1/2 cups walnut, 1 tbsp water, and 4 tbsp sugar into the blender.  Blend until it's slightly fine, but still has a good crunch to it.

    Put this mix on top of each filo layer and just keep adding on layers with this mix...don't forget to brush each layer w/ butter!

    Last, place it in the oven at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.

    When this is done, you can add the sauce on top.

  5. yes it can be possible i have several friends who are really experts in this issue, even they prepare their own pasta fillo really delicious, is hard to do because you have to learn how to roll the pasta fillo and make it a flat flat leave...real art...i wish i have this talent...you can make it with fillo paste (ready) but even they taste good there is nothing than home made...
