Question:

Is it possible to create a registry for my bridal shower in different stores?

I have found things that I like at Fortunoff, Macy's, and some stuff online. I know that usually, when you create a registry, the store gives you little cards to put into your invites. But how do I convey websites? Has anyone done this before, or should I just suck it up and do all in one store? My problem is that department stores don't have the cute "bride to be" or "mr. and mrs" stuff that I would like to get.

What do you think?

PS Before I get attacked for being greedy, I am NOT greedy, just asking how to go about the bridal registry question.

  1. You can register at more than one place.  I'd say three is the limit though.  Usually for showers that I've gone to, whoever is hosting the party inserts a little homemade slip that lists the places where the bride is registered.  So the online registry would just be listed with the website in addition to the store registries.

  2. Yes, but try to keep to 3 or less. Try to register for a wide variety of items priced from the very inexpensive to just a few expensive items. But, do not include those cards in your wedding invitation. These are only acceptable to be used in a bridal shower invitation. Word of mouth is the only way to let your guests know, when they ask, where you are registers or if you have a wedding website you can post the registry online.

  3. I registered at 4 stores and on the invitations we put the stored that we did not have cards for. No big deal and you're not being greedy!!!

  4. We're registered at 2 stores.  You could have your maid of honor/bridesmaids let people know by word of mouth, or print up a cute little card that has the address of the site you're registering on.

  5. You can create a website with a list of the registry places, along with other information such as directions etc. On your card, print the website address as a go here for details and RSVP.

  6. There is a website that will combine all your registry's into ONE site so all you have to do is list that one site on your card or whatever and guests can search as they like!

Let me find it for you real quick...

*Ok if you go to weddingchannel.com and click on registry, once you sign up (its free) you can shop where-ever you like and they will manage it all on one site, you can also order free registry cards too.

  7. You can register at as many stores as you please as long as you're registering for things you and your FH will need to begin a home together. After you register, simply list the stores you're registered at on the bottom of the shower invitation.

A word of advice though: it's perfectly acceptable to mention registries on shower invitations. After all, the whole point in a shower is to "shower" one with gifts! However, there should be NO mention whatsoever of gifts of any kind on the actual wedding invitations. Even if you don't want your guests to being gifts to the wedding, do NOT mention gifts at all.

  8. You can register any place you want, including online.  My niece registered with three different department stores .... my nephew's fiancee registered with two different department stores.  Once you have decided on the specific places and chosen your items, let the hostesses of your Bridal Showers know where you are registered so they can include this information on the invitations.

    Best Wishes!

  9. yes you can be registered in different stores at the same time that's normal

  10. just print up one card that has all the places you're registered (do it on your home computer to save $$) and slip it into your invitations.  don't put like 3 different cards in there with your registry info, that's overkill

  11. you can register where ever you want and however many places you want.. the places that don't give you cards maybe type up a list of websites that you have registered at and enclose that as you would the cards for registry.  there are some places that have stuff that others don't so it is not greedy

  12. Its fine to register at more than one store. That way, you get a variety of items and price ranges, and people can choose something that speaks to them.

Just register, but dont include the cards -- thats tacky, yes even for a bridal shower where the whole point is presents. Usually people will ask your mother, bridesmaids, the host, or you where you are registered. You can then mention the stores websites, which always have a search feature to find the bride and groom (meaning you dont have to give passwords or special instructions).

You can also set up a wedding website, and put registry info on there. Then when people ask, you can tell them about the website and they will see the registry.

  13. eh you don't need all that cutsey stuff when you can make cuter.. ;) ... and yeah you can register in different stores, I did at Target, Bed bath and beyond, kohls, and macy's (which had the same stuff as Dillards but we were boycotting them) and then I did at two jewelry stores in my hometown that sells things like fine china and crystal. The two jewelry stores didn't have all the cute bride to be stuff either but they did set up little registry tables with our invites and our selections. :D
