  1. Calgary is a fairly cyclist friendly city, so as long as you live near the school, it should be fine. Calgary is a very large city geographically, so check the distance from the area that you are planning to live to the school. For instance, if you are going to SAIT, try to find a place near 16th Avenue northwest. There are lots of places to rent in the southeast, but you could end up 30 kilometers or more from school. Winter days can be quite harsh, sometimes it gets down to minus 30 C with strong winds, so bike riding would not be recommended on those days. There is a fairly good mass transit system with busses and light rail.


  2. Yes it is. I've seen cyclists in the winter. Some days you will have to bus it if there is too much snow...but snow lasts only a few days here. Then we get a chinook.
