I recently had a baby and right now, condoms are the only contraceptive option for us however, I feel like I have developed an allergy to them (durex featherlite) that I never had before.

Is this possible?

  1. I would imagine so. I developed an allergy to my own dog, ten years after having him. He went to live with my mum as I was out at work all day  and when I went to visit her my eyes would swell and I would be sneezing etc.

  2. I did. I had always used latex condoms. I am not sure what brought on the allergic reactions... but I had much pain when using a latex condom, dryness, redness and irritation. So now I use polyurethane and don't have the same problems anymore.

  3. Your hormones play a big part in allergies and senistivities.  This is why you suddenly develop allergies to things that you used to use fine.

Try Durex Avanti - they contain no latex (but are flipping expensive) either that or ask your doctor for the free ones in sensitive

  4. a allergic reaction could show redness on the v****a, there may be blistering and itching. The rash usually occurs 6–48 hours after using the condom. If these are your symptoms, latex allergy could be the reason, but other things can also cause similar symptoms. For example, using a perfumed bubble bath, soap or shower gel that does not suit you can cause irritation on the genitals, or an infection such as herpes might be responsible.

Some condoms contain a spermicide, so your problem could be sensitivity to the spermicide, rather than to the latex rubber.

    Try non-latex, non-spermicide condoms.

    hope i helped x

  5. It is possible.

    Try latex free condoms.

  6. Sure you could.  Your hormones change like crazy when you have a baby.  Your body can react differently and be more sensitive to things.  Make sure it isn't something else (like a yeast infection)  Try a different brand.  Latex and spermicide free.  Make sure you are well lubricated. --Being dry can cause irritation.  Call your OBGYN's office.  Usually they will have a nurse that can talk to you and answer your questions over the phone for no charge.

  7. Oh dear poor you, you have my sympathy, if I were you I would take Mrs Grohl advice sounds pretty sensible to me.
