  1. Well, the photo paper cannot be exposed to outside light or it will literally turn black when you put it in the developer. Even exposing it for a second or two can really mess it up. It is crucial that you use a dark room to develop your photos. It's a pain in the butt, but it's rewarding in the end!


  2. Which bit of the development process? You can develop film outside the darkroom (Not that film is used much now) Either in a black, lightproof bag using a special devloping machine. The film is loaded into the machine inside the black bag. The sealed machine is then taken out of the bag and the chemicals poured in. You can't develop paper outside of a darkroom.
