Is it possible to die from Stinging nettles?

Just been doing some gardening, pulling up some nettles, wearing gloves of course but I did get stung quite a bit on my arms. This got me wondering if it is actually possible to die from being over stung or maybe being allergic to the sting?

  1. I suppose if you roll around naked in a patch for a few hours, you body might finally give up and die from the pain but no I don't think it's possible

  2. 1) like h**l you do gardening mate:P

    2) Maybe if you're allergic to stinging nettles or get stung constantly!

    ...

or maybe if you have like paper skin so the stings slice you open...but i doubt it.

  3. Yes, according to my Doctor anyway!   Some people ARE allergic to Stinging Nettles and it is a serious occurrence for them.  However, apparently nobody has ever died from being stung that way, but one can become very ill.   Normally, one gets a rash and over a period of time, this will go away and it is just an annoyance.  Just like everything else, like a wasp sting for instance, some will just get a swelling and others will get seriously ill with it.
