Is it possible to do A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, and French in only 1 year? And get As in all 3 subjects?

Just graduated from an American/International high school in Vienna Austria. I have an American diploma with a GPA of 3.9 and I've never had a GPA below 3.6 in the past 3 years of my education at this American high school.

I'm moving to London in a few weeks, to do A-levels as it's the only way I can be ready to apply for Medical school in the UK.

I've already done 3 AP exams. Passed the English AP exam with a 3, and am still waiting to get my results for AP French and AP Calculus which I took this year.

But my plan is to do both AS and A2 in 1 year. I'm gonna be doing Chemistry, Biology, and French. Do you think it's possible to do this in the course of 1 year and get As in all subjects?

NOTE: This past year (my senior year at high school), I took Honors Chemistry, and Honors Anatomy & Physiology and passed them both with an A- and a B+.

How high are my chances of getting As in Chemisty A2 and AS, Biology A2 and AS, and French A2 and AS in the course of 1 year?

I will study HARD

  1. You can try it, but I wouldn't hold out much hope.  A level syllabus is designed to be completed in 2 years.  You might get the AS levels but if you get As at A2 in a year then I take my hat off you you.

  2. i wasnt aware you could even do both your AS and A2levels in one year. you do your AS's in first year then complete the next year and that AS becomes an A level.

  3. i aint got a clue why dont you move to scotland and do highers you have more chances of doing these subjects in 1 year and of getting A's if youw work really hard trust me really hard as I have done them not french though but biology, chemistry and other subjects.

  4. A levels take 2 years, and in chemistry and biology you'll want as much time as possible. if you really want to cram it into one, talk to your college principal

Some medical schools accept UC qualifications or there are 6 year courses that include a foundation year if you have not got those A-levels. Universities also have admissions tutors who can tell you if your qualifications are acceptable there.

Remember to study medicine in the U.K. you'll have to take the UKCAT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UKCAT

plus BMAT for more prestigious universitieshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMAT

Doing all those full A Level courses in one year will make you stressed. I'm sure you'll study very hard, but what if you get Bs in them all from cramming into 1 year? Will you be disappointed with the results?
