  1. You should REALLY consult a doctor on this. From what  i know your body uses a lot of energy to produce the milk so you would be really tired and it could harm you and possibly affect the baby.

  2. if you decide to do this, please keep yourself well hydrated. that is the most important factor besides nursing often to keep your supply up.drink lots of water.

  3. It's not a good idea to fast while breastfeeding.  Your body needs those calories to produce milk.

  4. I found that the less i ate the more my milk supply would drop. It probably isnt a good idea. Plus the baby need the calories you take in as much as u do. If its religious pray about it first and see how you feel about it after

  5. It will diminish your supply.  Besides, what possible benefit is a 3 day fast? Studies have shown health benefits for a one day fast repeated on a regular basis, but none of the popular cleansing diets or fasts have shown any benefit for anybody.

  6. I think it will but more importantly why do you feel the need to fast? I think you should give yourself a break, you just had a baby! Try and do it more slowly and healthier. You will be really worn out and run down if you aren't eating and giving away all your nutrition reserves to the baby too.

    Added: 3 months is just!

  7. If you do I would tap into any milk storage you have and pump-n-dump.  Doing a fast will most definitely release toxins into your blood stream and will get into your milk which could be harmful for the baby.  Research this a bit more and talk to your dr before you commit to doing this!

    Good luck!

  8. I don't know if it will diminish your supply, but I know that it's important for a nursing mom to get good, healthy food. You should probably check with a lactaction consultant or nutirtionist before you do this.

  9. Yes, it will diminish your supply.  Sometimes when I haven't drank enough water that day, I notice a difference, so a fast would be traumatic.  A lot of religions have spiritual fasts but even when a woman is pregnant or breastfeeding, she is not expected to fast.  A lot of time she will give up unnecessary foods like sweets and snacks so she can still participate in the fast in her own way.

  10. Do NOT do this. Your baby needs you to eat healthy foods to keep her strong and healthy. PLEASE... if you love your daughter, do NOT do this!

  11. It wouldn't' be a good idea, your milk supply could go down a great deal plus you wouldn't have the proper nutrients in your body to care for yourself plus make good milk for the baby.
