Question:

Is it possible to do two years of school in a year?

I was held back one grade [7th] and I feel really stupid now. I am 16 and going into grade 10. I went to a HUGE college/university with my brother [that is starting college this year] and I really want to experience that on time. The only reason I flunked 7th grade was because half of the year I was sick and then I was too depressed to complete summer school [my best friend died about two weeks before] and I regret not going now. I get A's in everything except Math, and I need tutoring in it. Is it possible to do two years of school in a year? Who would I ask or contact about doing this? Also, any advice if I do? Thanks.

  1. yes. it is. the question is, would you be able to handle it? i want my son to do that since he was left back a year but i dont think he can juggle the work.

  2. yes you can, BUT i was also 16 in 10th grade, just because that's how my state worked.  it's really not that strange.  that means you'll be 18 in 12th grade which is really normal

  3. Its not going to happen, sorry. Its cruddy how things happen, but you'll just have to work within your new grade level. You can take community college classes in high school. That will help you "catch up" a bit during the college years.

  4. I'm guessing you live in America and I'm not sure but in Bitain they are starting to do GCSEs early. I am only in year 9 (14) but im doing year 11 science(16) and the same in maths,ICT, spanish and Technology

  5. Absolutely you can.

Homeschoolers do this all the time.

  6. Yes, it is possible.

It will take a lot of work and dedication on your part.

Since there are only so many hours in a school day you need to check with your district and inquire about additional "on line" and qualifying classes for you complete in the evening hours. . . . Let your instructor know what you intentions are, if they believe you can do so without struggle or your grades suffering, they will assist you as best they can.

  7. Not so much... I had a similar problem with having to basically make up for a semester due to appendicitis freshman year of college. Anyways, I was homeschooled, and I finished all 4 years of high school in 3 years with no problem at all, and I only took one or one and a half extra courses each year. But don't worry about being 'on time' with college - I've had lots of friends take a year off after finishing high school and before starting college for various reasons, and none of them say they regret it at all.

  8. Get with your parents and speak with them about attending summer school and taking correspondence courses as soon as possible.

If you do not do that now, then you could pile on college courses in your junior and senior years of high school in order to graduate early.

I believe that attempting to take two years of school in one year will be a tremendous strain on you as a teenager, but if you have the ambition you will succeed.

  9. 16 and going into 10th grade dosen't sound bad, most people are 15 or 16 in 10th grade!! I don't think you can do 2 complete years of school in one year (that would be a lot of work) but you could talk to your school counclor!! Also maby you could just make up credits in the summer!!

  10. yes, my friend drew is making up 4 YEARS of school in 2

he is in a continuation school so i guess you would just have to work something out with the councelor or something
