Is it possible to download yellow dog linux onto a cd using windows?

  1. Yes, it's possible. Download their ISO and write the image out to disc with a tool like CDburnerXP or Nero. Then, just put in your PPC/Macintosh's drive and let it boot. You should generally just need one CD or DVD to install Linux, but YellowDog could always be the exception. Also, note that Debian has PowerPc support for Macintoshes, though some older ones have trouble with things like the video. A new Debian version comes out next month, after an 18 month wait.


  2. 1. Yes, you can download the ISO image from their site. ISO images are OS (and processor) independent, so you can download the image, burn it to a CD, and then boot it just fine.

    2. With most multi-disc distros, only the first disc is necessary. The other discs are necessary only if you don't have an internet connection to download any extra programs you may want. I would assume this is true with Yeloow Dog as well.
