Is it possible to drink 126 pints in 24 hours?

Oliver Reed was famed for a lot of things, one of which was drinking 126 pints in 24 hours (and then doing a vertical handstand on the bar). Far be it from me to question the legend that was Reed, but I've got to call bullsh*t on that one...

If you drank 126 pints in 24h you'll be drinking the equivalent of 252 alcohol units.  There's no way you'll be doing a handstand, or even just stand, more likely you'll be dead of alcohol poisoning.

As a bit of trivia: To drink that amount of pints you need to consume them at the rate of one every 11.4 minutes.

Nope, I agree with you that not even the well-practised Mr Reed would be able to consume beer at that rate without being hospitalised. He could shift a bit, mind. I once saw him in a pub in Windsor and he wasn't half pasted. I left in a hurry before something untoward occured.

I reckon it's probably not far from the truth. It works out  @ 5.5 pints/hr. Even if not true, I reckon 100 is possible.
