  1. This is going to sound really weird, but I think my chemistry lab TA told me that 180 proof makes you go blind....but I could have my numbers wrong.  Something like 90% alcohol makes you go blind, but 95% (everclear) does not.

  2. everclear is one of thoes that is above 180, its like 200 or 190....you can drink it easily....same with moonshine, but 4.34 is not possible

  3. You'd be dead long before 4.34.  That's unless you were superman!!!  I don't know the proof of moonshine, but it might be close to what you're talking about.  I ain't drinking that again.  Almost makes me think of drinking gasoline or something.  You'll be falling down.

  4. I don't think I have ever had a BAC of 4.34, but I have drunk shots of Everclear 190 proof (95% alc.) am still alive and can see the keyboard well enough to answer your question.

  5. Not only is it possible, but it happens.

The key thing to keep in mind is a well seasoned alcoholic deep within his or her addiction can maintain a high BAC like 4.? without dying while a novice drinker would surely succumb to alcohol poisoning with such levels.

Clarence... You are only partially correct! Read my answer!

  6. Dear lord, fact time.

First, the highest drinkable alcohol that you can drink without dying would be around 95%, or 190 proof.  As mentioned, this would be everclear.  You can't get higher then that, the alcohol will evaporate out into the air.  You can get 100% alcohol, but it will include other "hol's" that will kill you, or make you go blind.

This leads us to number two.  Moonshine is commonly found in the 120-140proof range, below Everclear.  The problem with Moonshine is that not everyone is good at making alcohol, and if made improperly, will have things in it that can make you go blind, or dead.  (I believe dead is more common.)  Again, you can drink 180-190proof alcohol and NOT DIE!  (or go blind) You just have to drink less of it then the normal 80 proof stuff.

Which leads us to number 3.  Learn your math!  My co workers and I laughed at one poor sap to tried to convince us that a friend of his drank 210proof alcohol.  This means that it would be 105% by volume alcohol.  Or for each 1oz glass poured, there would be 1.05oz of alcohol.  Do you all see the problem with this?  You have the same problem if "Box" is right.  Even an experienced drunk can not get a BAC of 4.34, as this would be more then 100%.  (or 434% of your blood volume is alcohol.) As mentioned, you probably meant .434.  This will cause death for most.  80 proof alcohol will also get you to .434, you just need to drink more of it.

  7. it is possible to drink 180 proof alcohol. i dont know any brands that are exactly 180 proof but the popular example of a high proof alcohol is everclear, which is actually 190 proof.

as far as having a BAC of 4.34, no. it would be possible to have a BAC of .434 but that would be in the range of death. a 4.34 would only be possible if you pumped alcohol into an already dead person.
