  1. Yes, you don't need formal qualifications as a mature student but you do need to show evidence of your ability to study at an advanced level. When you apply, you need to give examples from the work that you have done to show how you have been able to make assessments or decisions about things. You may be asked to write an essay on a particular topic as part of the application process. If you have done a part-time course, or home study like a language course, this will also help your application. If you have the time, it is a good idea to complete an Access to Further Education course at a local college as this will give you entry to study at university. Ask at your local college for information.

  2. Depends where you take the degree and what the degree is in - when I worked in a university a mature student just had to show they had studied for the past 3 years whereas the Open University doesn't always require qualifications (depending on course) or proof of study.

  3. No, you can do a one year foundation course.  They are intensive courses but they prepare you well for your degree, plus you will meet mature students like yourself.

    Go for it!

  4. Yes of course it is. Most Universities will take mature students with whatever GCSE grades.  Good luck!

  5. Have you thought about the open university they offer a full range of degree course which they will help tailor your needs ie. easy you in through different course which will count towards your degree, so you'll not been doing them for nothing.  Also you will be able to apply for help with the fee's not guaranteed but certainly helpfull.  They also have excellent packages and study support throughout the courses.  Good on you!  And I like to think as wine gets better with age so does our experience, we mature nicely.  Good luck with your future studies.  Also have a look at there web site lots of information on there or give them a call.

  6. it really depends on the subject but sometimes your can gain entry from an interview!

I'm thinking of studying via Open University, for most or maybe all subjects you dont need qualifications! I just need to check if the degrees will be recognised outside the UK before I sign up!
