  1. Of course.

  2. A trapper, scout, army guide named Hugh Glass was mauled by a grizzly.  He was left for dead but eventually recovered and made it back to a settlement.  There are many accounts written based on  this occurrence, the best known is A man in  the Wilderness.

A few years ago a woman survived having an arm or leg torn off by a grizzly.

There are other accounts of surviving grizzly attacks.

  3. Yes, what you need is a large book on "The Wilderness"...

Don't worry, its only the 1st 10 seconds!

    Classic!

  4. People have survived by feigning dead but I would hate to try it.  I recomend traveling with a friend, one you aren't too fond of and if attacked, trip the friend and run while the bear is attacking him!

  5. Grizzly bears are omnivores at the top of the food chain and their actions are often unpredictable. The actions you take when you see a grizzly bear may affect the outcome. No research has been conducted to determine the best course of action when a human is confronted by a grizzly bear.

If the bear charges your first option is to remain standing. The bear may "bluff charge" or run past you. As a last resort, assume a cannonball position and play dead. Leave your pack on to provide protection, cover your neck and head with your arms and hands, and curl up to protect your stomach. Do not attempt to look at the bear until you are sure it is gone. Many experts now recommend carrying a cayenne pepper spray for use in close encounters with grizzlies. This spray is available at sporting goods stores.

  6. try it and let us know :P

  7. Yes, if its a male bear kick it in its nuts, it will not be able to run for several minutes, if its a female throw your bank cards at it, it will make off to the nearest shops

  8. Probably will not be possible in most situations but I read an account where a guy was walking down a path in thick brush and saw a bear ahead that charged him. He turned and ran a few steps then side stepped off the trail into the brush and froze. The bear supposedly ran right past him.

  9. Play Dead it works well with brown bear. you shoudent play dead near a black bear.

  10. it depends on how quick u can run was going to say play dead but someone said it

  11. There was a true story how a woman was attacked by a grizzly bear, it started to eat, chewed on here head and she twigged its nose to get it off. Bear have a very sensitive smell.

But she was left marred for the rest of her life.

  12. They can't run downhill very easily so head for the steepest slope and tumble your way down.

  13. Only if you're feeling more grizzly than he is!

  14. Get your head tucked in and hold tight and don't let go and hope to God that help arrives!...........or you could run!

  15. Is it trying to catch you? Grizzlies can reach 30 mph, and can run you down quite easily. Then it's Game Over!

  16. Unlike people, who kill for absolutely any reason and also for no good reason, bears only usually attack if you get between them and their food or if you get between a mum and her cubs. Some stupid people make the big mistake of offering them a bit of food and hiding the rest behind their back, very silly!  I know one thing you never run, just walk slowly backwards.
