Is it even possible for those animals to live in harmony? Will my cats or ferret be able to kill the lorikeet?

  1. its most likely that the Cats or the Ferret may kill it. I wouldn't risk it unless you put it in a room where the other pets wont get at it. However, birds like to be in a busy room with lots of attention , like the living room. so it is highly unlikely! Sorry!!

  2. I have 4 birds, along with 3 dogs, and 1 cat. My birds are in a separate room that has a door that can be shut. Anytime I let the bird out or take them out, then I close the door. I make sure all cage doors are secure, I put locks on some of mine. Ferrets are hunters by nature. You could have a Ferret and a bird, but I would be very careful. A friend of mine had a ferret that got out of its cage and the bird somehow managed to get out of its cage, and the Ferret killed it. Again, if the cages were secure it wouldn't have happened. It is hard, but it can be done. The thing with Ferrets is that if the bars are far enough apart they can squeeze through them. If you do get the Lorikeet, then make sure to get the wings clipped. I have a Swainson's Lorikeet and I love her. They are awesome birds!!

  3. yea. it needs a cage, is all. birds dont die from fright like hamsters or rabbits will. some cats just look at the bird, but dont do anything. ferrets dont eat birds. none of them can get in the cage.

  4. The cats' natural instinct is to catch and eat a bird - don't risk it.
