  1. It is not possible. The cable provider needs to make sure that they not help aid in copywrite infringement, so they block all the ports. They are dummy ports. Keep in mind, if you open up the DVR, you just bought it. They aren't cheap. Our DVR's here cost $567 if needed to be purchased, due to damage.

I don't know the model of the DVR you have, but if it's a few years old, the answer is no.  It is possible, but you'd have to get into the guts of the DVR and take out the hard drive and hook it up to your computer.  More than likely there is a spot in your computer where this would be possible.

  3. You can playback and record to a VCR or DVDR using the S or composite outputs. You can't access the hard drive data, even if you hooked the drive to a computer. The data is encrypted and will only pyay back on the DVR it wascrecorded on.
