i want to provide for myself raising a few cows and chicken...also by starting a little garden

  1. Yes, you can grow more than enough vegetables in a small garden to provide for a family. Even with higher feed prices, raising a few chickens can keep a family in eggs, and meat. The expensive part is buying cattle, treating them medically and feeding. them, plus enough space. Other than cattle, go for it. Check with your local state or county agricultural development outreach board for free information on gardening.
