Question:

Is it possible to fit more carpet around what we already have?

I have fitted wardrobes and therefore no carpet is underneath them.

However we will be redecorating and removing the fitted wardrobes.

The room is fully carpeted all the way round the wardrobes so after removing the wardrobes could we add more carpet in or would you be able to tell that it has been added and have to re-carpet the whole of the room?

Thanks

  1. Hi their,

I own several flooring companies so i can advise you.

Even if you managed to have / find a piece of carpet the exact same colour as the existing one, their would still be a shade difference.

When a carpet has been down a while (even a dark one) the everyday wear on it slightly changes the colour and even the pile so if you 'patched in' a new piece it would be visible to the eye.

The only alternative i can think of (short of buying a new carpet) would be to patch the area and put your bed on top of it so its noticeably visible when you enter the room.

    Hope this helps

    Martin

  2. It would look like patchwork and not a good idea.  Best to re-carpet.

  3. maybe you could just add more in and then put a pretty rug in front of it? of just put something else over it so its not too noticeable!

  4. you would probably be able to tell, if it was a old carpet, and you put a new patch in, or it's a slightly diffrent colour or material or thickness.

but it is possible to put a patch in and have it so good that you other people wouldnt notice it, but you always will. it's really on how good you would be able to do it yourself.
