Is it possible to fix my credit?

I have a few late payments, and only $1400 in debt. I am currently paying off everything and taking responsibility for making sure I do the right things to improve my score. How quickly can it improve if I take care of everything?

  1. Yes, it certainly is possible to fix your credit. Your attitude says you want to do it. "Quickly" is one of those "it depends" words. You might be interested in a short pdf report called Credit Management Masters Course. It's free and can be downloaded from the site listed below.

  2. Late payments will affect you severely for 12-24 months. After 24 months of on time payments, the effect will be significantly reduced. There is no quick way to fix it except talk to your credit card companies and ask them for a one time "courtesy" deal. Before you do that, it might be a good idea to have 6-12 months of on time payments and then ask your creditors to remove this information.

  3. You can improve it little by little by paying off the overdue debts and handling credit responsibly in the future but the negative information will stay on your record for 7 years.  Nothing can change that.

  4. nothing says it better than pays as agreed.catch up your delinquencies as soon as possible ,and as soon as you have paid off the $1400,you will again be in good standing............tom

  5. I agree with the one post it takes about 24 months to see a really good increase in score. Make your payments on time.

Also in the future never go all the way to your maximum limit. Limit credit inquires to no more than 2 in a three month period of time. Always have three lines of credit open at one time it helps your score as long as no late payments.
