ive been cheering for a while. i know a lot of ppl say it is bad and dangerous to teach yourself tumbling but it has been working very well for me. i taught myself a backhandspring in a few months and then a roundoff bhs in a couple more. i really want a back tuck cuz im on the jv team at my school but i want to be on varsity you dont need a back tuck to be on varsity. infact only 3 ppl out of 25 on it have any tumbling which is only bhs. but i want to get it so that i have a big advantage over them. so i was wondering if i go outside lyk everyday for 4 months is it possible. i always have my dad spot me, he is very good at spotting and i use pillows and stuff for safety. i had it on the tumble track about a year ago but have not practiced it since then.

  1. Yeah it is, but only if you have very little fear and good air sense. It took me a couple of tries and I could do it.

  2. It is possible to have a back tuck in four months, but not by yourself.  You need someone who knows what they are doing to spot you and watch you in order to tell you what you are doing right or wrong.  If you are all alone and can't watch yourself, how do you expect to improve if you don't know what to fix?  This is fine if your dad is a gymnastics expert.  Then he can help you.  But if he isn't you won't learn anything.  Besides the fact that back tucks are much harder to spot, and if he doesn' t know what he is doing, you could really get hurt.

Does your program attend gymnastics classes?  Have your instructors help you out.  Or sign up for a tumbling class at a local gym.  It is possible to have a back tuck in four months, but not by yourself.

  3. Maybe, but if you want it to be perfect then it's unlikely
