Is it possible to get a cavity on the sharp ridge of my upper central incisor?

I have never EVER had a problem with my teeth. 24 years and not a cavity, no braces, nothing! Just today I was running my tongue along the bottoms (not the top near my gums, but the bottom ridge that i chew with) and noticed a rough spot on my front tooth. I got a flashlight and a compact to check it out. Looks like a thin line on my tooth from what i can see. It won't scrape off. What is it?

  1. given the location

the most likely thing is that you bit something overly hard

at some point and chipped it, possibly slightly cracked it

a dentist can use dental putty and fill it in to fix it,

but do it before it gets worse, or it will become a cavity

    because it's exposed

  2. A lot of times central and lateral incisors wear away due to natural use, and dentists technically consider these cavities, although there may not be decay present. Your dentist can easily fill it with a white filling.

  3. Yes you can. You can get cavities anywhere. Maybe you've been neglecting brushing the backs of your teeth? I had one, and went to the dentist to get it fixed.
