I’m 33 and a US Citizen (cause born in US). With 3 years we (my mother) moved to Germany my father stayed in US. Since I was 18 I travel back and forth between US and Germany. But mostly of the time I am living in Germany. Now I’m marriage (in US 1 year ago) a German girl. Is it possible to get her now a green card or permanent resident?

The plan is later to get a child (with US passport) and to buy a house in the US.

  1. yes.

  2. Yes you can sponsor your wife for permanent residency. You will have to file an I-130. The best thing to do is to speak with an immigration attorney as well as check out the US immigration website:

    www.uscis.org

Personally, I would not be switching from Germany to the US. My grandmother is German and you guys have it ALL over the US - especially if you do decide to have a child. Do you know what kind of maternity leave you get in Germany? It's like a year or something - PAID - and that's for fathers, too. The most you'll get in the US is the Family Medical Leave Act which basically states that as long as you tell your employer 30 days in advance, you will be allowed to take up to 12 weeks of UNPAID time off to be with your child without the risk of losing your job (although there are ways around THAT, too, and the employer can fire you beforehand for whatever bogus reason).

I work in law and seen it before.

  3. yes it is not problem

my husband is a us citizen i am from Germany

the best way would be to go through the Germany botschaft in Frankfurt

    you will have less stress

    takes about a year

even if the baby is born in germany you can go to dusseldorf an regester it there as an american citizen cost 130. euro

    takes 20 minutes no hassel

you get a passport and sozial sent to you all you need is the abstammungsurkunde (don't know what it's called in english)

  4. have a baby

  5. You will need to establish a permanent address in US and provide copies of the last 3 years income tax returns to prove that you and your wife will not be a burden to the government.  It may be difficult to get it done otherwise, but try looking on Immigration's website: www.uscis.gov

  6. Absolutely, just go ahead and file a petition for your wife to become a permanent resident.

  7. YES INDEEEED

  8. yes its very possible, but why the usa stay there germany so beautiful so many beers let switch i go there u stay here in new york

  9. hi, absolutely you can file your wife for the US greencard.  Just complete the form I-130.  However once she gots the US greencard, she cannot stay outside USA over 1 yr without any permit; or over 2 yrs with the "re-entry permit".

If I were u, I would go back USA for at least 3 yrs after she gets her US greencard; then she can apply for the naturalization (become US citizen) after 3 yrs, once she gets the US citizenship, ur family can go to anywhere.  Hope it can help.
