I am interested in the style of AR-15 for hunting. I'm tired of the boring look of everyday candian hunting rifles and want something with a better look. It doesn't have to be a military issue AR but something with that style legal to hunt with in canada would be nice. I've already looked into it quite a bit and something with a 4 clip and semi auto should be legal. So any uselful information that anyone may have would be greatly appreciatied. thank you

  1. If what you actually want to do is hunt, the AR-15 is not the best weapon for this. Again, if hunting is the goal match caliber of weapon to animal that you are hunting. There are plenty of articles and books that will give you information about both the species you hunt and optimum weapon choice. Hunting is not about spraying the countryside with lead. It is about fair chase and well placed shots.

  2. I thought it was illegal for Canadians to possess a Stoner-pattern 'assault' rifle. . . .

Besides, if the Canadian provincial hunting laws are like those of the great majority of the States in America, the 5,56/.223 'poodle shooter' round is considered to be substandard, too weak for hunting anything other than varmints, and is definitely illegal for deer and any other larger game animals.

  3. An AR-15 is a restricted firearm in Canada (and you can't hunt with a restricted firearm)

  4. Why?

A simple Remington Bolt action 308 ADL/BDL would be a great gun to go with.
