  1. No, I dont think so. Ask yourself this, can YOU stay still for 48hours? I doubt it. A horse will get extremely stiff and it is not healthy. If you want to make a plaster cast of a horse, do it in pieces and then glue it together. But no horse can and will stay still for 48hours unless its a dead horse, which would be gross.

  2. Thats a pretty bad idea, dont you think? O_O

Try doing a different project. Like using a whole bunch of clay to make a lifesize one or something.

  3. No! >_< I suggest taking PICTURES at all angles and every inch! ^_^

  4. Sure you can. Not to mention the horse will die of fear.

  5. if they are lying down then definently no.

if they lie down for more than 10 hours they start crushing their internal organs.

you see, horses are 1200 to 1500 and even 2000 pounds. so when they lie down, all their weight goes to their insides, which eventually crushes them, which kills the horse very slowly and very painfully.

  6. no, not only is that cruel, but their bodies would actually crush the organs within. its a part of the reasons that horses stand up when thy sleep. DO NOT DO IT!!!

  7. Yes.  Horses will gladly lay still for 48 hours or longer if they truely love you so they can help with the plaster project.

What are the other posters thinking?  Any decent horse would cooperate.

A weak, whiney type horse might complain after the first day because it wanted something to eat, or needed to take a big pee, but a good horse wouldn't protest for a second.

If you don't believe me, just watch the horse movies.  I saw "Hildago" and I know for a fact that he got out of that pit with the huge spear stuck in his side so he could win the race for his master.  And I saw "Spirit of the Cimmaron" where the horse dragged off the train to save the day.  And I saw "Black Beauty", where the horse worked so hard pulling his cart to help his mistress that he almost died!

If these horses would do that sort of thing, give me one good reason why your horse wouldn't simply lie there quietly for 48 hours for an important art project.

Hope it goes well for you.

    Troll.

  8. Nope. Don't even try lol.

Try tack shops. My local horseland (and everyone that I've been to) have a model horse to display products, it's quite confronting when you turn the corner through the door and run smack bang into a model of a horse (lifesize) with a halter and rug on. Most tack shops have them. See if you can have one or borrow it to make a cast, talk to the manager first.

  9. Outside of shooting it?  No I doubt it.

  10. I really hope your kidding. If you know anything about horses they cannot lie down for any extended period of time. So you are going to have to think of another idea for an art project. I would recommend one that does not involve the use of an animal - especially if you're using plaster.

  11. Honestly?  It would kill the horse.  Immobility shuts down the bodily functions and can kill a horse in much less time than 48 hours.

  12. no i dont really think so

  13. That would kill it... Plaster heats up very quickly and gets extremely hot while it sets. Make a pony out of clay instead.

  14. You mean 2 DAYS! WTF?!?! No way! Can YOU lie still for 2 days? Didn't think so.

  15. Your kidding right?

No way can you have a horse lie down still for 48 hourse!!! it will die!!!

Wow how can you even ask that! Would you wan't to lay still for 48 hours...didn't think so!

  16. Seriously Dude!!!

Unlesss the horse is dead or knocked out with anestetics...it's impossible!

  17. NO!! A horse can not lie down for a long period of time!

Any how why would a horse let any human cover it with plaster? i mean come on DUH!

  18. Borrow a Breyer and make a cast from that - no living creature will stay still for that long.

If you need it to be lifesize they have models at tack shops to show off rugs etc but I have never seen a lying down one.

  19. ur kidding right...

  20. Not a live one. A horse has to stand up or it will die. Horses do not have any circulation below the knee so they rely on the frog in the hoof to circulate the blood in their legs. A horse can not lay down for extended period amounts of time or their lungs will fill with fluid as well. So to answer your question. No.

  21. um if you killed it or drugged it to near death than yes...

but horses only get 13 hours of sleep and they do most of that standing

why not just get a little toy horse and then base your LARGER model off the small toy one?

  22. No. You cannot make a plaster cast of any living animal.

Here's an idea: Start using sculpting clay and sculpt yourself a pony.

  23. you could use a thin mesh metal to build the frame of the horse and reinforce it in areas that will have a lot of strain and then cover it in whatever you want.

  24. You're funny....

Better try a taxidermy shop-you can get molds there.

  25. no way they will get colic if they stay down for more than 6 hours. get a life !!!
