Question:

Is it possible to get a positive pregnancy test when your ovulating?

Well I have taken 5 tests in the past 2 weeks, and 1 of them today said 'pregnant' (clear blue). I have taken 4 tests today. I took 3 clearblue and 1 first response. I haven't had my period for 2 weeks. But what I am wondering is that I would normally be ovulating at this time, so does that mean that I could have tested positive this one time because I am ovulating and not pregnant? Is that possible? Thanks!

  1. I have worked for an OB/GYN for years and yes there is such a thing as a false pregnancy...you can psych your body into thinking you are pregnant...i have seen it several times...women come in because test showed pregnant and then sono shows the truth.

  2. No you can not get a positve pregnancy test when ovulating.  It takes up to 3 weeks after you last period to take a test depending on brands.  You can get an ovulation kit to tell you when you are ovulating but pregnancy test does not detect hcg when ovulating..

  3. Nope. Doesn't work that way. Pregnancy tests test for the hormone hCG which only occurs in pregnancy. Ovulation will later your progesterone but not hCG.

  4. i highly doubt it... pregnancy tests pick up hcg which is only detecable when it rises way past our non pregnant level... you may have had a breakthrough period last period or implantation bleeding!

  5. No. test would be positive only when u pregnant. U don't have HCG if u not.... Congrats !!!!

  6. a positive will positive irrespect of if you are ovulating or not. you could check for pregnany symptoms at http://www.easyninemonths.com/pregnancy_...
