Is it possible to get a surf board shipped to an airport to pick up on arrival?

We're traveling to the West Coast from London next summer with a toddler and my partner wants to take his board - very understandable - but I'm hoping we can avoid traveling with it as well as our daughter and the associated toddler gear!
