I was traveling from Canada into the U.S. by car. I am an American citizen. They confiscated from me leather cleaner, fuel line from my lawn mower, and some other things. If I can't get the items back, can I get compensated?

  1. Nope.....your out........

  2. Confiscated means that you were caught trying to smuggle these items into the USA, with out either declaring  them, and or  paying any taxes. You loose .

And from now on, your name will be "flagged " on  both  the US and the Canadian  border security computer systems, as a possible future smuggler. You can expect to be searched every time you attempt to cross the border, in either direction.

Just be glad that you were not charged with a criminal offence, instead of just having   the goods  seized .

  3. Generally no.
