  1. Whenever I purchase furniture on the secondary market from a smoker I do one of the following:  wad up newspaper and put it packed fairly tightly in each drawer, put an open container of talc, baking soda, borax or activated charcoal in the drawers and wipe down the entire surface with vinegar or Krud Kutter (a non-toxic, fume free biodegradable cleaner), but dry it thoroughly so as not to damage the finish.  All of the above usually works.

  2. you can repaint wicker, I would do that.  Odds are if it has been in storage for 4 years, it won't smell like smoke so bad, more like dingy dirty mold and mildew.  If it does, try painting it.  Also you can wash it off with soapy water and a wash cloth, try that.  make sure you rinse it though.

  3. Soapy Wood Cleaner. Instructions on bottle.

There is also a Nicotine Remover spray available - again instructions on the label.

    Best wishes. UK

  4. It's probably won't smell if away from smoke for 4 yrs. Otherwise, you can set a bowl of vinegar in each drawer.
