Is it possible to get my son another copy of his birth certificate?

I think I lost my sons birth certificate durring a move and I need it to file for child support. Does anyone know the steps I take to get another one? I have his social security card and declaration of paternity and EVERYTHING else but Im not sure where I go to get another birth certificate. Any help you can give! thanks..

  1. yes just go to the board of health in the county he was born you have to pay a fee but you can get it with several forms of ID.

I had to do this a while back.  I contacted the hospital where my daughter was born.  They put me in touch with the local registrar and they gave me the address to make the request along with the fee (believe it was $5.00).  If I remember right, within two weeks I had it, notarized and as good as the "original".  Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  3. Call the Registrar of Deeds in the county your child was born in for a copy-you will need ID to prove you are who you say you are etc. and it costs about $15

  4. Make it easy for yourself. Go to www.vitalchek.com and order it in a few minutes. Everyone is sadly mistaken when they tell you that you need to go to the county courthouse. The clerk of courts will simply look at you, slap your wrist, and tell you to go to vitalchek.com.
