  1. Nope.

The thought being, you finish training, get the cash and you would be gone.

You have to wait. This is non negotiable...............

  2. it is possible to get your whole bonus upfront, but only after you have completed your initial tour.

On your initial tour, here's the way it works: if you have say a $14,000 bonus you receive your first $10,000 upon completion of job training (because that is how you got the bonus in the first place-was for the job you chose) and the remainder of the bonus is paid out on the anniversary month that you joined the army.

  3. No, it's always after completing all or part of training.

They typically tax the living h**l out of your bonus.  Expect to lose 28% off the top.  I said TWENTY EIGHT PERCENT!!! Screwy is it now?

  4. Sure just write Mr Bush tell him how bad you need the money and they will cut you a check LOL

  5. what those two said.

  6. No you have to wait.

You will get a portion of it after you graduate and then it is broken up in chunks in every year of your service.

  7. u get a thousand a month just for being a senior in high school

  8. Most of these people are correct, especially Josh and PK.

However, if you want the sign-on bonus up front where you can back out of your commitment, they will recoup whatever bonus you received if you do not meet the requirements in the contract you would be given.

  9. 1, dont join for money, join because you want to serve your country

#2, no, the first portion comes after BCT second comes after a set amount of years active duty

#3, you wont negotiate with the government

  10. Nope..you get half after you finish training and half after your enlistment is completed..period.  There is no negotiating with the military. And keep in mind that if you fail to fufill your enlistment contract for any reason (other than something related to injuries sustained in the line of duty) you are going to have to pay back some, if not all, of the amount you already recieved.

You can do your best to get the field you want, but beyond that it is all done according to regulations.  If they negotiated something different for each recruit, the whole system would simply shut down.
