A student can get a dependent visa for a spouse.  It expires with the student's visa and the dependent must also return home.  Students and their dependents are required to return to their home country upon completion or termination of studies.  

You must prove that you not only have sufficient funds for your studies and living expenses, but also you must prove you have suffcient funds for your dependent spouse's support.  Hope you have a great deal of money.  Student visas forbid working.

You get a study visa for up to five years depending on the course applied & approved by the Australian educational authorities. The spouse of the student will get visa to accompany him or her as the case may be. This spouse gets get permission to work on regular basis where as the student is allowed few hours of working per week. The proof of educational fee & other expenses etc can be given by any relative of either of them from anywhere in the world, however since the spouse is permitted to work on regular basis & the student can work on part time basis, the total expense which incur on the studies & their living can be maintained by them without any outside financial help. The proof of their marriage in the form of valid marriage certificate issued by the Marriage officer/registrar under any applicable matrimonial enactment in India will be enough along with other educational certificates & degrees which will be required to be shown & deposited at the time of actual admission in the educational institution of Australia where you have applied & got admitted provisionally. The total time that will require getting the entire student as well accompanying spouse's visa will be within 3 to 5 months only. You will be requiring only one-way Air tickets for both, but better make arrangement for staying in Australia as you won't get independent accommodation on rent so easily when you arrive there. Any new person in that country takes 4 to 6 months to get settled properly in an independent accommodation on rent. Even the work which the spouse will be looking requires enough prior job experience so he or she should carry all his or her previous job profiles & experience letters. In case the spouse in this case is a husband then job of cab driver, truck/lorry driver etc is in available & so he should carry international license for driving all such light or heavy vehicle. One thing more try to buy all your course books from here in India itself as the cost of both Higher education & books/stationary etc is very high in Australia. Even learn to eat continental food now itself otherwise although Indian grocery is available there but it’s very expensive, sometimes beyond your budget.
