I have a surround sound system with a built in decoder that I would like to plug both my laptop and my xbox360 into using fibre-optic cables. Is there any way to get them to share the same socket?

  1. Yes you can do this.  All you need to do is buy a toslink optical switch.

  2. You would need to do this with a switcher if your sound system has only one input.  The link below has a 3 input switcher that has video switching capabilities too for $79:

Otherwise, unhook and rehook, when you want to go between devices.

  3. use a optical splitter

  4. you will need a seperate optical router box
