Is it possible to go camping on the beach somewhere along the new jersey shore?

A group of friends and I wanted to go camping, but also wanted to go to the beach, so we decided to combine them both and go camping on the beach. However, we're unsure if that's actually allowed somewhere along the NJ shore.

Would you be allowed to set up a tent and stay overnight on the sand? And if so, where?

Thanks!

  1. Hmmm, I think the only place that may allow you to do that is Island Beach State Park, however you may need an actual "camper".  I'm not sure if they let you pitch tents, but they may.  Either way, you'll have to pay a fee to camp there overnight and perhaps a reservation.  I would google Island Beach State Park and see if you can find more info on that.  It's located just south of Seaside park and north of Long Beach Island.

  2. plain and simple no. there just isn't any place to camp on the beach in NJ. Maryland has some nice beach camping at the National Seashore there.

  3. Search on pc states park or just campground around that area. I know their is a state park in SC. that is on the beach. Good luck and have fun.
