Is it possible to go into 12th grade without going into 11th first?

yes there is..

my brother did it..

he had the credits to skip 11th so in his "12th" grade year he just did everything that most 11 grade students do (sats, apply for scholarships...) except he was in all 12th grade classes

I did have kids from my school who graduated a whole year early and I am not sure if they got ahead in summer school or what.  High school is all about credits and graduation requirements. To be considered a 12th grader, you have to have enough credits. To make it easy, let's say your high school requires 40 credits to graduate and also to have the required courses.

Usually taking the academic courses plus an elective each semester will get you to the 40 credits, as academic courses are often 1 credit each and electives like music, debate, yearbook are 1/2 each as is P.E.

Most high schools require an approximation of what an average college would require for admission: 4 years (8 credits) or English, 4 years of math, 3 years of science, 3 years of social studies, a credit of fine arts (music, art, theater), 2 years of foreign language in some cases, and 2-3 years total of PE.
