Is it possible to go running while on holiday in Svalbard?

If you're going to be staying in/around Longyearbyen, you can certainly do some short runs.  With the light traffic, it's quite easy to run the stretch from the port area, up through town, and all the way up to the area around the Galleri Svalbard.  That's about 4km in all, so a roundtrip would be nearly 8km - a decent distance for a quick run.  And if you get hot while you're running, you can end with an icy dip in Adventfjord to cool off!

If you want to do a longer run, or if you're going to be staying outside of the towns, I don't think you can do much running unless you can run with your polar bear rifle (or get someone to follow you around with it).
