  1. It's way easier to graduate early from homeschool than from public.  In homeschool you can work at your own pace, and you're not held to a public school schedule, you can work on any given subject longer per day, through weekends, holidays and summers, and as soon as you finish one course, you can start the next.  In public you have to stay with a class full of other people, only do the assignments given, and have to wait until the next year for the next course.  Also, you can check out the "dual enrollment" options, where you go to college while still in highschool, and get credit for both at the same time.

    Good luck!

  2. Yes.  In California, you file your PSA (Private School Affidavit) - NOT a letter of intent.  It's easy to file the PSA.  That's all you have to do.  Once you've done that, you are a private school.  Then when you decide you are able to graduate, your school will graduate yourself, (or I guess your parents will be graduating you).

Some kids do not graduate themselves before attending college courses.  It depends on the colleges your looking into - they may allow you to start attending their classes while still in your private high school.  Others may require you to be graduated.  Check into the college of your interest to see what their requirements are.

There are pro's and con's to graduating early, but I would contact your local HSC volunteer to figure out the ins and outs of southern California.

Oh, here's my answer to your other question that gives more details on how to start homeschooling:

  3. Yes you can, especially if you are home schooled.  In my state you are eligible for graduation at 16, so my son did extra work and graduated in just a little over 3 years.  At the age of 16 he was accepted to college; and at age 19 had a certification in computer science.

  4. It's actually more possible and likely if you're homeschooled. That's what I'm doing, and I've got friends who graduated and started college at fifteen and sixteen

  5. I finished school at 16. I went to college to do it. Got my points and high school diploma.

Did it back in the day, so you should be able to do it too.

It is work, not just handed to you and back then I had to pay for the classes.

    Good luck check it out!

  6. It is possible to graduate early from high school *especially* if you are homeschooled (as opposed to 'even if you are homeschooled').

Having been home-educated all his life my brother, for one, sat the school leaving exams four years ahead of any of his school-going peers.
