  1. Boy, it's going to be difficult since sunlight thru a window does not compare to outside light...even if it is a south window.  Also remember your plant will get sun on one side per day, and even if you turn it every day, only a portion will ge the sun per day........and pitful sun at that.  Supplementing with a grow light will help. Saving money.......no, you have to pay for the electricity to grow the plant and the cost of the lamp and fixture.

  2. yes, with a grow light , 12 with light on and 12 with light off,

  3. I tried overwintering a bell pepper plant in my hot tub room (big cedar-lined room with 2 skylights, lots of humidity, lots and lots of sun exposure).

The plant survived and I planted it back outside this spring.  However, it's leggy and woody, and it's only producing little itty bitty peppers that turn red very quickly.  The bell pepper seedlings I bought new and planted outside at the same time are producing big healthy peppers.

Considering that a bell pepper plant is usually less than $1.50, you may be better off just buying new plants every year.

Right now bell peppers (green ones) are 82 cents at the grocery store, so it's a great $1.50 investment and you don't have to use pesticides.

  4. They only need 65 degrees to grow best . They will also need a light . Not worth the electric bill unless you are doing it for fun or in large amounts .

  5. Yes it is possible to plant them as long as there is enough warmth and a strong plant light, or green house natural lighting. Your tomato plant will eventually stop producing within it's growing season because It's not designed to live longer than a year, but I've been able to keep chili peppers alive for a few years.

  6. You want to pay a higher electric/heating bill just to sustain two plants?  For that effort I'd want a whole greenhouse full to toms and peps!

But it can be done.  The pots will need to stay warm, over 55F MINIMUM and at least six hours of good light a day.

If it's money you want to save, try plant cuttings before frost set in.  Place fresh cuttings from toms and peps in water and the plants will regrow new roots.  In a few weeks the rooted plants will be strong enough to be transplanted into soil and become identical plants to the parents.  But they won't grow fruit and blossoms until the spring.

  7. If you have a heat lamp That u can use it would benefit the plant dearly indoors, along with lots of water and space to grow in.

  8. If it'll work in a greenhouse it should work in yours.

The key is sunlight. Find a place to maximize your solar exposure.
